Why We Work

photo_whyA "neighbor" is generally considered someone who lives close to you. In the Bible, Jesus defines our "neighbors" as anyone in this world, stranger or acquaintance, that is in true need and that our response should be to selflessly give our time and resources to help.

We at Neighbors First, Inc. see and understand that many people have true physical needs. NFI was established to help meet those construction related needs and to "build hope".

The mission of Neighbors First is to:

Follow the primary directive given by Jesus Christ:

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength; and love your neighbor as yourself."

Gospel of Mark 12:30

Assist those in physical need:

"We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion - how can God's love be in that person? Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions."

1 John 3:16-18

Communicate God's message of hope and renewed life:

Jesus said: "For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in Him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day."

Gospel of John 6:40

"But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted perish."

Psalm 9:18
